On Reconciliation

Beautiful post here from Chris Corrigan’s site. It’s a poem by (Wasauksing First Nation) poet Rebeka Tabobondung. It’s a poem that has stayed with me since reading it two weeks ago.

I love the lines,

We are waking up to our history
from a forced slumbe

...

and we will gently whisper the circle back
and it will be old and it will be new.

For all of us in our wondering, grieving, sitting still, rising up individually and together. All of it.

  1. ooph, that caught me in my gut.

we will gently whisper the circle back
and it will be old and it will be new

and we will cry and cry and cry

    how much we lost
