Simple Things

I look for simple things.

Sometimes, it is slowed pace with work
that interrupts the default of speed.

Sometimes, it is simple food
that uses up the left-overs.

Sometimes, it is a walk
that meanders me through the neighborhood.

Sometimes, it is quiet breath
that settles the mood of the meeting.

Sometimes, it is scratching the dog’s ears
that returns so much appreciation.

Sometimes, it is clear story
that makes hard things more possible.

Sometimes, it is no story
that welcomes attention only to the present unplanned moment.

I look for simple things.
