On a walk recently with Dana
it was this Texas Mallow
that beckoned our attention.
Nothing big.
But something bright and beautiful
Enough for us to stop,
take this picture,
and be moved by both the moment and by the memory.
I am drawn to this notion
that learning and loving are always available.
Sometimes we learn in classrooms.
Sometimes we learn with colleagues and companions.
Sometimes we learning by what shows up in front of us,
beckoning our attention.
Most often something small.
Offering doorway to something big.
Little things that are big things.
This is what I invite myself and others to notice.
But before applying any of that, little or big,
the invitation is just to notice.
Notice what moves.
Notice what intrigues.
Notice what tickles.
Notice what catches attention.
So, yes to students.
Us. Others. Solo. In group.
Yes to Life offering ample opportunity
to sample curiosity,
to delight in delight,
to learning in the classroom of what is near us,
to high-five the Texas Mallow,
and to waking to such ever-present participation.
