It seems that I cycle quite regularly to reminders to be simple. Sometimes it’s life feeling complicated. Or full. Sometimes it’s grief that beckons me. Sometimes it’s right-timed intuitive listening — “just go back to the simple” is what I so often hear. For me, my relationship with simple often shows itself when I need deeper clarity.
In a repost way, below is a poem, In The Simple, that I included in A Cadence of Despair.
For inspiration. And for appreciation of clarity.
In The Simple
I love the way
that horses graze in a nearby field.
Sometimes the young ones run
in short spurts.
I love the way
that birds sing in morning sky.
Sometimes a chirp,
sometimes a whistle.
I love the way
that horses and birds remind me
to live
in the simple.
Perfect for when the world spins in chaos and madness. Thank you, friend.
